SPIO-NH2s are amine-grafted SPIOs. They are used in imaging, diagnosis analyses, pollutant removal, and catalysis.
Why use SPIO-NH2?
SPIO is pre-functionalized with an amino silane, allowing a molecule of interest to be attached to its surface. This molecule of interest can be a targeting agent, an imaging or therapeutic agent, a protein, or another entity for nanomedicine applications. It could also be a molecule capable of capturing metals for applications such as pollution remediation.
